Darcy Boyle is a young street urchin living in Dupont at Aunt Ginny's house. She doesn't go to school and instead spends her time scavenging for parts from the junkyard or selling contraband fireworks[2] with her cat, Barf.[3]

Character summary[edit | edit source]

Personality[edit | edit source]

Darcy is a bright but down on her luck child. She is very talented with machines, having replaced Emmy's arm[4] as well as having built an intricate ladder contraption to her room at Aunt Ginny's.[5]

Relationships[edit | edit source]

Darcy has a bad relationship with her school and the children at her school. The kids refer to her as "Trash Girl"[2] and she is banned from getting within 20 feet of school property.[6]

While Darcy refers to Ginny Hackle as "Aunt Ginny", she is not actually her aunt.[7] The limited interaction between them has been icy, with Ginny complaining that Darcy is "too loud".[8]

Her relationship with Aunt Ginny's outmodes isn't well known, aside from Dennis, who bullies her and steals her junkyard finds.[9]

Biography[edit | edit source]

Meeting Emmy[edit | edit source]

Darcy was scavenging at the junkyard when she found Emmy, unconscious, in a trash pile. Darcy reactivated her and was able to find and attach a replacement arm to the Nandroid.[10][4] With no easy route for Emmy to return home, Darcy took Emmy to a payphone but Emmy was reluctant to call either Sterling Robotics or her family, as she still had no human care certification and feared that returning to Sterling would result in her being dismantled. Darcy then suggested she come with her to her Aunt Ginny house, and attached a bracelet device to Emmy.[11][12]

After arriving at Aunt Ginny's, Darcy and Emmy have a brief encounter with the outmodes living there and Emmy flees the house after trying to explain her situation, much to Darcy's dismay.[13]

Dupont Rescue[edit | edit source]

After spending some time alone in List of notable locations#Dupont, Emmy has a confrontation with a group of scrappers, known as the Iron Spikes,[14] whom she mistook for a band. As the group was preparing to abduct Emmy, Darcy rode in on her moped and was able to save Emmy using a gas canister.[15] After escaping, Darcy took Emmy to an alley where she explained to her the danger she was just in and revealed how she was able to find Emmy - the bracelet she had given her earlier was a tracking device.[14] Unhappy at this new revelation, Emmy suffered another minor malfunction, with Darcy guessing it may be due to a software update.[16] Darcy then explained to Emmy that she may be able to help repair her without the need for Sterling Robotics, an idea which Emmy initially dismissed as a joke.[17] After an angry outburst from Darcy, Emmy apologized and accepted Darcy's help, with Darcy wondering what the Delaire's might be willing to pay to receive a fully functioning Emmy back. The duo then ride off on Darcy's moped, returning to Aunt Ginnys'.[18]

Return to Aunt Ginny's[edit | edit source]

Emmy and Darcy return to Aunt Ginny's and Aunt Ginny suggests Emmy room with Darcy in the attic.[19] Emmy and Darcy retire to the attic where Emmy begins charging, surprised at the clutter of the attic, to which Darcy responds she likes to collect things.[20]

A new day[edit | edit source]

The next morning, Darcy awakes to find the attic clean and organized and goes to find a missing Emmy, ready to give her a piece of her mind for cleaning up without permission, only to find Emmy in the kitchen, having prepared a large breakfast. Darcy relents and instead of berating Emmy sits down to enjoy the large meal.[21]

Behind the scenes[edit | edit source]
