Dennis is an outmoded robot living in Dupont at Aunt Ginny's house alongside other outmodes. As part of his living arrangement, he goes out to find "treasures and junk" and bring them back for Aunt Ginny to either keep or sell for "rent".[1]

Character summary[edit source]

Personality[edit source]

Dennis is a lazy smart-ass with a gambling problem who has a nihilistic, detached personality.[2] He acts suave and gracious around Emmy and is shown to have a carefree and joking attitude to all the outmodes staying with Aunt Ginny, though he shows a very different side to Darcy, bullying her by trying to steal some of her junkyard finds.[3]

Biography[edit source]

Early life[edit source]

Before being outmoded Dennis was a pilot[4] and also served in the military, although it's unclear if the war medal he wears is real.[5]

Meeting Emmy[edit source]

Dennis is the first outmode Emmy meets after arriving to Aunt Ginny's mansion but his warm welcome and smooth attitude are rejected by her.[3] After an overwhelming meeting with the other outmodes, where Dennis was skeptical of Emmy's story and he and the other outmodes laughed at her when she insisted she wasn't an outmode and her family was worried about her,[6] she runs away. After Emmy is rescued by Darcy from the streets of Dupont and the two return to the mansion, he wins a bet against Doc as to whether Emmy would return.[7]

The next day, while reminiscing about being a pilot, he's captured by the same Iron Spikes group who had attempted to abduct Emmy. After paying back some of the money he owes them and pretending to not know the whereabouts of Emmy, he is left tied to a tree[8] and eventually found and saved by Emmy and Darcy.[5]

Trivia[edit source]

  • He has had a few close calls leading to the damage to the back of his head.[9]
  • His hair is a molded shape, unlike the synthetic fiber hair of a Nandroid.[10]
  • Dennis' first appearance is in chapter 79.[11]
