Character summary[edit | edit source]

Personality[edit | edit source]

Dr. Webb is a kind, casual, and caring man who enjoys his job working with robots.[2] He has a sense of humor and likes to make jokes,[3] and is one of the few people who treats Emmy as more than just a machine.[4]

Biography[edit | edit source]

Early life[edit | edit source]

Early in his life, Dr. Webb worked as a robot technician in the Marines.[2] Afterwards he got a job at Sterling Robotics.

Caring for Emmy[edit | edit source]

After the events of Madeline's 8th birthday party, Emmy is sent to Sterling Robotics headquarters to undergo testing and repairs where Dr. Webb is assigned to investigate her malfunction. He treats Emmy very kindly and speaks openly with her about his past and reasons for his current job.[2] As the days progress, and with no answers regarding Emmy's malfunction, he expresses dissatisfaction in a board meeting regarding the idea of deactivating Emmy and providing the Delaire's with a replacement.[4] After the meeting he is reprimanded by his superior, Dr. Bennet, for speaking out of turn in the meeting. Emmy, who eavesdropped on the conversation, overheard about the possibility of being scrapped and is locked out of her patient room. To avoid being caught, she hid in a trashcan and was unwittingly sent out with the trash.

Dr. Webb returned the next day to find Emmy's room empty and began a search for her thinking she had been moved or was in testing. [5] Being unable to find her he then alerts Dr. Bennet and Sterling security of the missing Nandroid. He expressed sorrow to Ted over Emmy's loss and promised to do everything he could to find her.[6]

Soon after, he joins Ted in searching around Sterling Tower for any hint of where Emmy could have gone, but the search isn't fruitful.[7]
