This page is a listing of all minor characters appearing in Emmy The Robot. These characters only appear for a short amount of time but are still important to the story.

Humans

Aunt Ginny's Father

Aunt Ginny's father ran a machine parts manufacturing business, originally created by his father. He had a deep admiration for robots.[1]

John Sterling

John Sterling is the founder and CEO of Sterling Robotics.[2] He founded the company around World War II[3] and remained an active member of the robotics community, pushing for robot rights and helping to spearhead the Android Ethics Code, designed to prevent inhumane treatment of autonomous artificial intelligence.[4] He is English/Swiss.[5]

Ms. Bradbury

Ms. Bradbury is a Sterling Nandroid educator who provides basic information lessons in Nandroid School. She also handles the graduation ceremony and gives a speech prior to the Nandroids receiving their family assignments.[6] She played a prominent role in the very early comic while Emmy was still in school, first appearing in chapter 5.[7] Her last appearance was in chapter 12.[8]

Mr. Schenk

Mr. Schenk is a Sterling Nandroid educator.[9] He makes a few background appearances near the beginning of the comic and is only named in a Patreon exclusive chapter.[10] He is recognizable for his blue pinstripe suit. In chapter 68 he is seen again as he speaks with Dr. Webb, who is searching Sterling Headquarters for Emmy.[11]

Ron Bennet

Dr. Ron Bennet is a Sterling engineer tasked with looking into Emmy's malfunction, along with his assistant Dr. Webb.[12] Dr. Bennet is less caring to Emmy's situation then Dr. Webb, having both offered the Delaire's the option to receive a new Nandroid to replace Emmy[13] as well as become angry with Dr. Webb after he tried to defend the option of not replacing her in a board meeting.[14] He even entertains the idea of having Emmy sent to a Sterling plant in Switzerland for dismantling.[15]

Robots

Betty

Betty is a Nandroid in the same class as Emmy in Nandroid School. She is seen in chapter 9 helping Emmy in a self-dense role play scenario.[16] She is the only other Nandroid to have a known name besides the main cast.

Busker Bot

Busker Bot is an outmode robot who Emmy and Madeline see in chapter 31. Madeline enjoys the show of him dancing and gives him some spare change which he repays her for by giving her a green apple flavored lollipop.[17] Emmy promptly takes it away and discards it, remembering her school indoctrination about outmodes.[18] Busker Bot enjoys dancing for people on the street, it's what he does.[17]

Electronica

Electronica is the nickname given to what is considered the first self-aware robot. It was capable of limited conversational responses and understood basic logic, but had very limited mobility. The creation of Eletronica is considered the starting point of The Great Enlightenment.[19]

Jane/Joe (General Robotics)

Jane and Joe is the name given to an early line of multi-use androids built by General Robotics. They were marketed as "the do-anything robots".[20]

Nabs

Nabs are small red robots that scour the junkyard in groups looking for worthwhile scrap.[21] They appear in chapter 66 only where they steal Emmy's arm. They are shown to speak in some unknown machine language.[22]

Other Entities

Atlas

Atlas is a robot manufacturer from the UK.[23]

General Robotics

General Robotics is a robot manufacturer from the US. They are the oldest manufacturer still in operation.[23] General Robotics went through a lull where they made some bad products and at times their quality is inconsistent since they’re also one of the most comprehensive robot manufacturers.[24]

LCP

LCP is a robot manufacturer from the UK.[23]

Murdoc

Murdoc is a robot manufacturer from the US.[23]

Sirius

Sirius is a robot manufacturer from Belgium.[23] They are known for making some terrible products in the past.[24]

Tokuyama

Tokuyama is a robot manufacturer from Japan.[23]

Volkman

Volkman is a robot manufacturer from West Germany and one of Sterling's closest competitors.[23]

Yamamoto

Yamamoto is a robot manufacturer from Japan.[23]
