Madeline Delaire is the daughter of Ted and Angela, and the child who Emmy is tasked with helping care for.
Character summary
Personality
Madeline is a bright[1] and rambunctious[2] child who dislikes mornings[3] and likes being creative.[4]
Relationships
Madeline is friends with all of the Hawthorn Grove children and rides the trolley to school with them every day.[5] She also invited them all over to her 8th birthday party. [6]
Madeline loves both of her parents very much, and rushes to meet Ted when he comes home from work.[1][4]
Madeline also has a very close bond with Emmy, who she treats like family and enjoys playing and spending time with.[7]
Biography
Living with Emmy
While working for Sterling Robotics, Ted purchased Emmy as a Christmas gift for his family.[8] Emmy helped care for and raise Madeline for four years.[3]
The birthday incident
During Madeline's 8th birthday party, Emmy malfunctions and involuntarily sprayed her birthday cake with fire retardant after seeing its sparkler candles, destroying it. Her father Ted attempted to stop Emmy, but she sprayed him as well.[9] While initially heartbroken at having her cake destroyed and not being able to make her wish, Madeline still forgives Emmy for the incident[10] and eagerly awaits Emmy's return[11] and even makes her a get-well-soon card.[4]
Trivia
Madeline is allergic to shellfish and has moderate asthma. Her birthday is September 18th.[12]

Madeline appears in many chapters, almost always with Emmy by her side. Madeline first appeared in chapter 13 Family Assignments.[12]
