This page is a listing of all minor characters appearing in Emmy the Robot. These characters only appear for a short amount of time but are still important to the story.

Humans

Aunt Ginny's Father

Aunt Ginny's father ran a machine parts manufacturing business, originally created by his father. He had a deep admiration for robots.[1]

Delinquents

A group of three children: Nicole, Riley, and Miguel (respectively),[2] who purchase fireworks from Darcy[3] and later use them to torment Pip.[4]

Iron Spikes

The Iron Spikes is a gang of human scrappers who steal outmodes off the street and sell them for parts. The gang is shown in chapter 94 where they attempt to abduct Emmy, who has mistaken them for a band.[5] In a subsequent Patreon post, the gang is shown to have dreams of becoming a band.[6]

John Sterling

John Sterling is the founder and CEO of Sterling Robotics.[7] He founded the company around World War II[8] and rose to notoriety soon after.[9] He was an active member of the robotics community, pushing for robot rights and helping to spearhead the Android Ethics Code, designed to prevent inhumane treatment of autonomous artificial intelligence.[10] He is English/Swiss.[11]

Harry Zeigler

Dr. Harry Ziegler is the head scientist of Sterling Robotics and long time friend of John Sterling.[12] He joined Sterling Robotics in it's early days, helping to create their first robots, including Tin Man[10], and later pushed for robot rights, helping to spearhead the Android Ethics Code, designed to prevent inhumane treatment of autonomous artificial intelligence.[10]

Ms. Bradbury

Ms. Bradbury is a Sterling Nandroid educator who provides basic information lessons in Nandroid School. She also handles the graduation ceremony and gives a speech prior to the Nandroids receiving their family assignments.[13] She played a prominent role in the very early comic while Emmy was still in school, first appearing in chapter 5.[14] Her last appearance was in chapter 12.[15]

Mr. Schenk

Mr. Schenk is a Sterling Nandroid educator.[16] He makes a few background appearances near the beginning of the comic and is only named in a Patreon exclusive chapter.[17] He is recognizable for his blue pinstripe suit. In chapter 68 he is seen again as he speaks with Dr. Webb, who is searching Sterling Headquarters for Emmy.[18]

Ron Bennet

Dr. Ron Bennet is a Sterling engineer tasked with looking into Emmy's malfunction, along with his assistant Dr. Webb.[19] Dr. Bennet is less caring to Emmy's situation then Dr. Webb, having both offered the Delaire's the option to receive a new Nandroid to replace Emmy[20] as well as become angry with Dr. Webb after he tried to defend the option of not replacing her in a board meeting.[21] He even entertains the idea of having Emmy sent to a Sterling plant in Switzerland for dismantling.[22]

Robots

Betty

Betty is a Nandroid in the same class as Emmy in Nandroid School. She is seen in chapter 9 helping Emmy in a self-dense role play scenario.[23]

Busker Bot

Busker Bot is an outmode robot who Emmy and Madeline see in chapter 31. Madeline enjoys the show of him dancing and gives him some spare change which he repays her for by giving her a green apple flavored lollipop.[24] Emmy promptly takes it away and discards it, remembering her school indoctrination about outmodes.[25] Busker Bot enjoys dancing for people on the street, it's what he does.[24]

Electronica

Electronica is the nickname given to what is considered the first self-aware robot. It was capable of limited conversational responses and understood basic logic, but had very limited mobility. The creation of Eletronica is considered the starting point of The Great Enlightenment.[26]

Greta

Greta is a Sterling Robotics produced[27] lab assistant who worked at Sterling Robotics. She is used in a Sterling TV spot to show that robots have emotions, by stating that being useful makes her happy, and failing to meet expectations makes her sad.[12]

Jane/Joe (General Robotics)

Jane and Joe is the name given to an early line of multi-use androids built by General Robotics. They were marketed as "the do-anything robots".[28]

Janitor robot

The Janitor robot is a Sterling Robotics produced robot[27] who appears in chapters 61 and 62. While cleaning, the oblivious janitor robot empties a trashcan that Emmy is hiding in into a trash chute, unknowingly sending Emmy down the chute as well.[29] Upper-upper management of Sterling Robotics has his memory wiped of the event after they become aware of it.[30]

Mr. Toast

Mr. Toast is the brand name of an unnamed robot that sits next to Emmy at the Department of Automation. His real name is unknown.[31]

Nabs

Nabs are small red robots that scour the junkyard in groups looking for worthwhile scrap.[32] They appear in chapter 66 only where they steal Emmy's arm. They are shown to speak in some unknown machine language.[33]

Penny

Penny is a Nandroid in the same class as Emmy in Nandroid School. She sits next to Emmy during graduation and is excited to get the chance to hug a real human.[2]

Tin Man

Tin Man is the name given to one of the early robots produced by Sterling Robotics.[10][34]

Unnamed robot

An unnamed robot affectionately called Missy or Pemmy (Pirate Emmy) by fans. Offered to Ted by an old man touting she was the missing Emmy he was looking for. She speaks in simple, incorrect English at first, but then asks to go home with Ted, stating, "No one has to know."[35]
